Catch Your First Glimpse of Formula E Electric Car Racing This Weekend for Free

By James Laird on at

Formula E, the electric car racing series first launched in 2014, may still be in the shadow of petrol-powered F1, but that doesn't mean that auto enthusiasts aren't starting to take an interest in it.

You may remember that last year Formula E held an event in London and now the 2015-2016 championship is underway. Things kicked off in China back in October 2015, with the monthly race taking in a host of countries including Malaysia and Uruguay.

Most recently, Formula E landed in Buenos Aries, Argentina, while this weekend sees the circuit hit Mexico City. And if you've yet to dip your toes into electric car racing, now's a great time, as Formula E will be live streaming all the action from Mexico this weekend. British driver Sam Bird of Virgin Racing is expected to be in contention.

Race day is Saturday 12 March, and while the main race might not be as tempting as hitting the Mug and Gullet, there's still plenty of chances to catch your first glimpse of Formula E.

The race times are as follows and the live stream can be found on the Formula E YouTube channel:

  • Free Practice 1: 08.15 local time (14.15 UK)
  • Free Practice 2: 10.30 local time (16.30 UK)
  • Qualifying: 12.00 local time (18.00 UK)
  • RACE: 16.00 local time (22.00 UK)

Still not convinced? Check out some of the highlights from Buenos Aries in the video below, which was shot in 360 degrees in an apparent 'world's first'.
