How to Pimp Your WhatsApp Messages With Bold, Italics and Strikethrough Magic

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

A trio of new features has just been introduced by WhatsApp, allowing you to easily format your one- or two-word messages. Once you’ve updated the app, you can play around with emboldening, italicising and striking through your cleverly-arranged words.

Here’s how to get your formatting on:

Stick an asterisk before and after the words you want to make bold.

Example: I fucking *hate* you

Plop an underscore before and after the words you want to italicise.

Example: I fucking _hate_ you

Slap a tilde ( ) before and after the words you want to cross out accidentally-on-purpose.

Example: I fucking  love HATE you
