Nike LunarEpic Flyknit is an Appropriate Name For a Crazy-Looking Trainer

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

Nike has just launched its new LunarEpic Flyknit trainers, and don’t they look lovely? If you watch football, you’ll no doubt be familiar with the eye-catching design. Nike’s essentially attached a sock directly to the trainer’s opening, making it look more like a boot.

As well as looking flash, it should ensure your footwear doesn’t slip off when you’re out and about. The company also claims it allows your feet, ankles and lower leg muscles to work together as a single unit, which should apparently feel more natural.

The LunarEpic's outsole features a series of geometric ‘pistons’, which move independently of each other, and are claimed to maximise cushioning and traction. Indeed, early reports from people who’ve tried them on confirm that they’re a damn comfortable pair, however, ManvMiles’ Kieran Alger, who’s had them for a while now, says they might actually be overly-cushioned.

The trainers arrive in stores tomorrow, but they're already online, and available for £150. I'm rather taken with the blue pair. [T3, ManvMiles]
