Parents Sell Daughter to Buy an iPhone, Say They Didn't Know it Was Illegal

A Chinese fellow has been arrested after selling his 18-day-old baby daughter online. The man, known as ‘A Duan’, from Tong’an, Fujian province, found a buyer through the social network QQ last year, and reportedly exchanged his own flesh and blood for 23,000 Yuan (£2,500).

Why did he commit such an atrocious act? Because he wanted to buy a fucking iPhone and a motorbike.

According to Duan’s wife, known as ‘Xiao Mei’, he spent most of his time in internet cafés, while she worked multiple part-time jobs. They were both 19 when Mei fell pregnant, and are believed to have been struggling to make ends meet.

Duan was grassed up by the buyer, whose sister still has the poor baby. It isn't yet clear whether or not the child will stay there or be taken into social care.

Duan, who fled Tong’an after selling his daughter, was tracked down by police and faces three years in prison, while his wife has been given a suspended sentence of two and a half years. According to reports, these are the words she said to police officers when she was taken in: “I myself was adopted, and many people in my home town send their kids to other people to raise them. I really didn’t know that it was illegal.”

The next time your dear offspring complain about you being a shit parent, pull this one out of the bag. [Epoch Times via Independent]
