Alicia Vikander to Bring 'Emotional Depth' to Lara Croft in Next Tomb Raider Film

Alicia Vikander, you know, the one nobody had really heard of before The Danish Girl came out, will follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie by playing Lara Croft in the next Tomb Raider film.

Yes, movie makers have decided that 13 years is enough for us to get over just how bad the previous two movies were. Despite Jolie being pretty much perfect for the role of badass, gun-toting archaeologist-adventurer Croft, everything around her sucked. Hopefully Vikander, who’s believed to have beaten the likes of Daisy Ridley (Star Wars), Cara Delevingne (posho model with eyebrows) and Gemma Arterton (not sure) to the role, has plenty of patience.

The new movie, which is expected to land in late 2017, will reportedly portray Croft as a character with “a well of emotional depth”, which screams out ORIGIN STORY. A-fucking-nother one. Cheers Hollywood. [BBC]
