The original Avatar was the highest grossing movie of all time - and is oh-so memorable too. Remember... that guy who was in it? And the blue people? And the bit where the thing happened? All completely unforgettable cinematic moments.
And this is probably why James Cameron has announced that he's going to be making FOUR sequels to the film.
Yep - for a long time, it has been rumoured that he wants three more, but no, it turns out that he wants four whole sequels, which will all sit together as one saga. So, umm, let's hope that Sam Worthington's schedule isn't too busy.
Variety quotes Cameron as saying "So far, what I am seeing in pure imagination is far beyond the first film", adding that people have left "speechless" after seeing the initial concepts. Sadly Variety doesn't specify whether it was because they didn't know how to tell the acclaimed director that it sounds as though he is going mad.
The first sequel is due to hit cinemas in 2018 and the following three would then be released in Christmas 2020, 2022, and 2023 and are expected to tell a story focusing on Pandora's most precious natural resource: Diminishing Returnsium. [Variety]
