As the hype train gears up for Captain America: Civil War in a few weeks time, Marvel is already looking ahead. Last night it released the first teaser trailer for Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the eponymous hero.
The film is expected to further introduce the concept of "magic" into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the trailer showing off some rather trippy visuals, that certainly seem to be inspired by Christopher Nolan's 2010 masterpiece Inception.
See, this is what happens when you have a career-ruining car accident, and turn to ancient mysticism to try and heal your problems.
It will also star a bald Tilda Swinton as Strange's mentor, the Ancient One - clearly channelling the ghost of Morpheus from The Matrix, as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, another student of Swinton's character. Mads Mikkelsen will also star seemingly as the villain of the film, because of course he'd be cast as the villain.
The film is due to hit on November 4th in both 3D and IMAX - with Marvel studios head Kevin Feige reportedly hinting that the hope is the 3D can enhance the crazy visuals to help the audience buy into Doctor Strange's world.
