To celebrate the Queen’s big 90th bash yesterday, Camden Council decided to transform the BT Tower into a giant candle of sorts, by projecting flames onto the screen at the top. As you can see from the pictures, it looked a bit rubbish, and everyone knows the Queen’s nowhere near tall enough to even pretend to blow them out.

Still, everyone involved sounds pretty proud of themselves. “I’m delighted that we have been able to find such a special way of marking the Queen’s 90th birthday," said Mayor of Camden Larraine Revah. "With the BT tower visible from so much of our borough it’s the perfect way to let our residents share in the good wishes.”
A quick Twitter search shows that, rather than being in awe of the sight, most people reacted to the stunt by assuring everyone else that no, there had not been a terrorist attack last night.
This evening BT Tower will be lit up like a beacon to celebrate #Queenat90 - no need to worry, it's not a real fire! pic.twitter.com/R92gWqhw8s

If you see this tonight don't panic, it's just the BT Tower's tribute to the Queen and it's not on fire pic.twitter.com/iyVheNde79
