Filming for the First Episode of Top Gear Sounds Like a Disaster

The bad news train chugs on. According to new reports, filming for the first episode of the revamped Top Gear did not quite go to plan, with the studio audience said to have been disappointed with Chris Evans’ performance in particular.

The host that most of us simply don’t think we’ll ever take a shining to reportedly had a fair bit of trouble memorising and delivering his lines, which meant that filming went on for four hours rather than one. Some of his jokes are said to have gone down like lead balloons too, with audience members showing their disapproval by filtering out of Dunsfold Aerodrome early.

At one point, a frustrated Evans is said to have lashed out at the crowd, saying, "Don’t be quiet. Talk among yourselves. Jesus Christ! Can you all hear me?"

Oh, and it's also emerged that Brad Pitt was supposed to be the first guest on the show, but a last-minute withdrawal meant Gordon Ramsay and Jesse Eisenberg were drafted in. However, the replacement for Star In A Reasonably Priced Car sounds pretty promising.

The show returns to the BBC on May 29th. A tenner says the studio segment is nowhere near as painful as the reports claim it was. [Independent]
