John Oliver's Brexit Rant is Too Hot for UK TV

By Gary Cutlack on at

This week's episode of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver has already caused quite the internet stir thanks to the host deciding to bore Americans with some stuff they won't care about or understand about our Brexit vote -- but we're not allowed to see it on our TV.

Due to UK broadcast laws about having to pretend to be impartial in the run up to important voting things, the show's usual UK broadcaster Sky Atlantic has been forced to cancel its usual Monday night screening of the US political comedy vehicle, due to it being a bit one-sided in favour of the Remain camp.

But making a mockery of the entire process as usual is that troublesome old INTERNET, with the very first Google search result for Last Week Tonight With John Oliver being a link to a YouTube clip of the Brexit rant in question. Here, to make a further mockery of the antiquated media rulebook that's currently being set fire to by some kids with smartphones, is the clip.

It loses all appeal when it's right there in front of you, like a bottle of poppers in your coat pocket on a Monday morning. Don't click the YouTube link, either. You don't want to go anywhere near the comments on this one. It'll be death threats and DIY ASCII Hitler emjoi all the way. [YouTube via Hollywood Reporter]
