Where Are the Quietest Seats On a Plane?

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

Today’s the first official day of summer 2016, and isn’t that unexpectedly depressing? Before you book your flights out of this sodden land of puddles and misty breath clouds, it’s worth giving this a quick read.

American airline JetBlue has posted a handy short clip online, explaining where the quietest spots on an aeroplane are and why. According to Christian (probably not his real name):

There is less noise when you’re sitting forward of the wings. On most planes, the engines are located under the wings. Sitting in front of the wing is like being behind a speaker. All of the sounds of the engine and disturbed air are projected away from you. For a more peaceful ride, find a seat in the front of the cabin.

So there you have it, if you want a peaceful flight, spend half of your holiday cash on a first class seat. Or, you know, save a few pennies and just get nice and sozzled with the great unwashed. [JetBlue via Lifehacker]
