Local restaurant delivery service Deliveroo is about to move into the booze sector, with a joint venture with Majestic Wines and BrewDog seeing it starting to drop off alcohol to people already too far gone to even think about walking to the shops.
The booze should be with consumers within 20 minutes, on average, although it'll be a fairly limited service to start with; eight Majestic Wines branches across London are in the scheme from launch, with 20 BrewDog suppliers around the UK and a handful of indie suppliers also onboard. Successful trials paved the way for the launch earlier this year, with the minimum order value of £15 -- and the possibility of being asked for ID upon delivery -- remaining parts of the final service.
A Deliveroo spokesperson said. "We’re really excited to launch our standalone alcohol service, as it seemed like a natural expansion to our service. We’re always interested in exploring potential opportunities to innovate." [TechCrunch]
