No doubt thrilled at the popularity of Pokémon GO amongst people who absolutely hate living in the real world, the Walt Disney Company has released the first image of the Star Wars-themed land being built at Disneyland Resort in California.
It looks… sketchy. Wait, that’s not a picture at all, just an artist’s impression. The Millennium Falcon is in the mix, there’s an actual ship and loads of domes. Now my eyes hurt. Can you spot anything else?
“Nestled between towering spires of rock, this thriving port contains a seemingly familiar architecture of markets, landing zones and buildings,” wrote Erin Glover, Disneyland Resort’s editorial content director, in a blog. “Look closely and you may find hints of some of the thrilling experiences that are coming – like the Millennium Falcon peeking out of one of the cargo bays, marking the location where guests will get the opportunity to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.”
There’s no word yet on when it’ll open up to Star Wars fans, but construction on the 14-acre attraction is well under way. Earlier this year, we heard that one of the two main rides will put fans in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, while the other will stick them in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and First Order. Here are a load of concept images. [DisneyParksBlog]
