Japan's VR Porn Fest Halted Due to Overcrowding

By Gary Cutlack on at

That Japanese VR porn festival did indeed turn out to be a very bad idea -- but for different reasons than you might think. It was so popular that police had to step in and close it down prematurely, as masses of semi erect men in helmets risked harming themselves with their directionless flailing and imaginary-tits-feeling mass hysteria.

A translated report on VR Talk quotes an attendee as saying: "The event didn’t start until 2pm, so I went there in high spirits an hour before then, but the city was already overflowing with people. There were so many that it was almost impossible to keep the situation under control. While waiting for my friends, I couldn’t help but think that if they couldn’t control the mass of people, a riot or something similar could happen. The 20 lucky guys closest to the building were let in by the staff."

So as many as about 20 people got to go in and have a go at/in something, before it was cancelled.

Apart from that, it all seemed to be popular, albeit in the really quite bizarre manner of the Japanese trade show in which mannequins of young girls tempt you to touch them as if it's all OK. We think these photos are from the event, if you'd like to see more. [Silicon Angle]
