No Man's Sky Hacked into VR With HTC Vive

By Gary Cutlack on at

A man has hacked VR support into current hype potato No Man's Sky, using the HTC Vive headset and your usual tweaked configurations to get it all running through the headset. He's unlikely to ever take his helmet off again.

Here's the video. It's a man being very, very enthusiastic about it:

He can't believe it works so well. He is happy. That HTC Vive was worth it. The instructions on how to get it running in stereo vision with an HTC Vive and third-party utility VorpX can be found on Reddit, but the basic thing is to use an existing OpenGL profile from something else that works and if you;re lucky it'll work too.

Other men with technical abilities are disassembling the game's code to see what it looks like, finding, among other curiosities, unfinished art assets that seem to show  rendering of what the unseen pilot you play/be looks like, plus PS3 and Xbox 360 folders -- legacies from early development rather than hints at future ports to last-gen machines.
