Sony has confirmed earlier rumours that it will be holding a big PlayStation bash on September 7th in New York City. Confirming reports by French gaming site Gameblog, the event will take place at the PlayStation Theatre from 3PM ET, which works out at 7pm GMT on our shores.
While Sony's staying tight lipped beyond a promise to "share details about the PlayStation business", it's pretty much a given at this point the gaming titans will be offering up the full spread of info on its PlayStation Neo console.
Already confirmed by Sony CEO Andrew House, not much is known about the PS4 Neo beyond speculation of 4K support and improved VR experiences powered by speedier RAM, CPU and GPU internals. Giant Bomb is pointing at an 8-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz – notably faster than the 1.6GHz chip in the current PS4. Still, it'll need all the power it can squeeze in, given Microsoft's impressive Xbox One S redesign and the whispers surrounding the uber-powerful Project Scorpio console Microsoft is also said to be working on.
