It’s Thursday, August 11th, and people have started using Twitter to spread the rumour that Twitter is set to close down in 2017. At the time of writing, #savetwitter is the top trend in the UK, with users seemingly convinced that it’s end of days for the social network.
According to most believers, it’s because of cyber-bullying. After all, the company has a bit of a rep. According to IBTimes, the hashtag was created by YouTuber @BradTheLadLong and, as they do, things sort of just spiralled out of control.
I apologize to those who love Twitter but the abuse I got on here was disgusting and that is why action needed to be taken. #SaveTwitter

Surprise, surprise, Twitter's confirmed that the rumours are way off the mark, and the site will continue to exist beyond December.
