Apple is reportedly in talks to buy iconic British car company McLaren in a deal worth around £1 billion.

According to the Financial Times, negotiations have been ongoing for several months, though whether the iPhone-maker plans to make a significant investment in the firm or buy it outright remains unclear. Here's what the report says:

The California technology group, which has been working on a self-driving electric vehicle for more than two years, is considering a full takeover of McLaren or a strategic investment, according to three people briefed on the negotiations who said talks started several months ago.
