Big phone haters, this is not the speculation for you. Rumours spotted on Weibo suggest Huawei is prepping the next super-sized entry in the Mate series for a December release.
The Mate 9 was always expected to arrive before the end of the year, but up until now we’d simply resorted to good old guesswork. However, as the Mate 8 landed in November 2015 and the Mate 7 came out in October 2014, December always seemed likely.
The Android handset is expected to feature a 5.9-inch, Full HD display (making it slightly smaller than the 6-inch Mate 8), and an unusual 20-megapixel dual lens camera setup combining a black and white image sensor with a full colour one, similar to the system used by the Huawei P9.
There’s also talk that it will come with a monstrous 6GB of RAM, as well as 64GB of internal storage and a 2.8GHz Kirin 960 processor. Let's hope battery life is phenomenal again too. [Weibo via TechTastic]
