Who knew that after reviving both Stars Trek and Wars, JJ Abrams could make geeks even happier?
According to IGN the director said that both a Portal and a Half Life movie were "still very much in development", and than an official announcement will be made "fairly soon".
He went on to say that he was apparently meeting with developer Valve next week to discuss the projects - something that will no doubt please fans of the games, and Stephen Merchant's agent. Describing the discussions, IGN quotes Abrams as saying:
"We are having some really interesting discussions with writers, many of whom...once you said you’re doing a movie or show about a specific thing that is a known quantity you start to find people who are rabid about these things. As someone who loves playing Half Life and Portal, what’s the movie of this, it’s incredible when you talk to someone who just ‘gets’ it, it’s like, oh my god, it’s really the seed for this incredible tree you’re growing."
The films were first announced in 2013, but nothing has been heard since. Of course, the big challenge for him now is figuring out how to include lens flares in otherwise normally lit test chambers. [IGN]
