Looks Like the Pixel XL Has Already Made it Into a TV Ad

We’ve been here before, haven’t we? Three years after Google sneakily revealed the Nexus 5 in an Android ad, it appears to have done the same thing with the upcoming Pixel XL.

This time the leak has been neatly wrapped up in a Nest ad… for TV viewers in the Netherlands. Android Police was sent a recording of the clip, which shows a family being all happy and warm and safe -- thanks mainly to their smart thermostat and security camera, naturally -- but also because mum (or the mistress) has somehow got her hands on a phone that hasn’t even been announced yet.

Non-spoiler alert: She doesn’t explain how she did it.

The handset, which features a kind of ugly two-tone back panel, gets a decent amount of air time. Enough for you to conclude that it isn’t a smartphone that’s already on the market, anyway.

Google’s set to reveal the 5.5-inch Pixel XL alongside the 5-inch Pixel at a launch event on October 4th. [AndroidPolice]
