Could you soon be patrolling the streets of your neighbourhood with a Charizard watching your back? That seems to be the implication based on hidden code in the latest update to Pokémon Go.
According to Pokémon Go Hub the game will soon be adding a "buddy system", which will enable you to pick one of your monsters that you'll be able to have follow you around, outside of the Pokéball - a bit like Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow on the Game Boy.
Where it gets interesting though is that this will earn you extra candies in the game - meaning that for the first time there will be another way to evolve and train Pokémon. No more waiting for another rare Kabuto to turn up if you want to get your hands on a Kabutops.
Interestingly, it will apparently use the same location tracking code as egg hatching to earn, meaning that you need to get active for the feature to work. So yes, Pokémon Go will be rewarding your exercise... with candy.
But don't go for a full marathon - there will also be a limit on the number of candy you can earn every day.
Apparently we can expect the feature to officially launch in the next week. [Pokémon Go Hub]
