You Can Now Download iOS 10

iOS 10 is officially available to download, so put those fingers and thumbs to good use.

  • Just make sure your device has a picture of an apple on the back before getting all excited. All good? Proceed to the next bullet point.
  • Does it still have a bit of free space available? Yes? Next stage for you.
  • If it’s a phone, is it an iPhone 5 (or newer)? If it’s a tablet, is it an iPad 4 (or newer)? If it’s a slightly smaller tablet, is it an iPad mini 2 (or newer)? If for some reason you still use a dedicated music player, is it a six-generation iPod Touch? Yes, yes, yes, yes? You’re good to go.

In theory anyway. Updating to the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system can prove a bit of a mission on day one, so it might be worth waiting for the hype to die down a little before jumping on board.

Oh, and Apple recommends backing up your data before getting into bed with any new version of iOS. Here’s how. Done? Now all you need to do is hit the Settings icon, go to General, tap Software Update and hope for the best.
