Apple Launches SIM-Free iPhone 7 Options for US Customers

The iPhone 7 has been available for about a month, and we think it’s a great smartphone. But until now, you’ve had to have your new iPhone to a carrier, even if you bought it off contract. Not any more.

Apple is now offering the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to US customers SIM-free. This means that it will come unlocked and ready to work on any wireless carrier. If users buy the iPhone 7 SIM-free, they can’t use Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program (which is a very good way to upgrade without getting ripped off), but Apple does offer 18-months of special financing.
