Skype, Hangouts and Duo -- watch your backs. WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out video calls to Android users, with Android Police spotting the new option overnight.
According to the publication, the feature is available on “a few” recent beta builds of the Android version of the WhatsApp app, but the rollout appears to be “random”.
If you’re one of the lucky ones, you’ll be able to access video calls simply by tapping a contact and hitting call. ‘Video call’ will appear as an option, though it’ll only work if the person whose face you so desperately want to see has the right build of the app. If they don’t, a message will appear saying that your contact needs to get their shit together and update their app.
