Amazon has surprised precisely nobody by announcing that the first episode of The Grand Tour was Prime Video’s most-watched premiere so far.
Annoyingly, the company hasn’t released an exact number, but says that viewership figures were in the millions. The motoring show knocked the opening episode of The Man in the High Castle into second place on Amazon’s leaderboard.
November 18th -- aka premiere day -- also saw a record number of Amazon Prime subscriptions sold on a non-Prime Day.
It’s great news for Jeff Bezos and co, who are said to have splashed out around $250 million to secure The Grand Tour ahead of Netflix. That's the equivalent of around 2.5 million £79 Amazon Prime subscriptions. [Digital Spy]
