The Royal Mail has officially kicked off the 2016 Christmas frenzy by publishing its delivery deadline dates for the festive period. Resist all temptation to show it to your kids. Father Christmas can take all of the credit again.
There’s no need to sprint home right this second if you’re planning to post a little special something to a little special someone in the UK, but you might want to consider cancelling tonight’s plans if your friends and family live further afield.
For UK delivery services, the dates are:
- Tuesday 20 December -- 2nd Class
- Wednesday 21 December -- 1st Class and Royal Mail Tracked 48
- Thursday 22 December -- Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed and Royal Mail Tracked 24
- Friday 23 December -- Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed with Saturday Guaranteed
Don’t relax just yet. The deadline for recipients living in Australia, Greece and New Zealand is tomorrow, while it’s December 14th if you need to send something over to the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Poland.
You may or may not be devastated to learn that the Christmas deadlines for Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Cyprus, Eastern Europe (except Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia), the Far East (including Japan), the Caribbean, Central America and South America have already passed. Sorry.
