Twinings' Music-Playing Tea Cup Will Give You an Instant Headache

Twinings has done a silly thing it wants tea-obsessed saddos to send viral, putting together a completely over the top cup designed to optimise your tea-slurping experience.

The Forget-Tea-Not, as it’s called, plays the Bing! Bang! Bong! song through an inbuilt speaker when your cuppa hits 68 degrees Celsius -- the perfect temperature for the first sip of tea after adding milk, according to Twinings’ master blenders.

In case you need reminding, this is the Bing! Bang! Bong! song. 28 seconds was enough to make my head hurt.

According to a Twinings survey involving 2,000 adults, making a cup of tea is the very first thing that 34% of Brits do each day. However, 29% said their first brew of the day is ruined when they forget about it and let it go cold. Bing! Bang! Bong! should ensure you never abandon a cuppa again (and forever associate tea with splitting headaches).

Twinings says the Forget-Tea-Not has also been specially shaped to maximise drinking pleasure, like beer companies say with pint glasses. “The cup has a large rim diameter,” says Twinings, “so that the tea reaches more of your taste buds – including those at the front of the tongue which pick up the sweeter notes in the tea.”

You may or may not be devastated to learn that the Forget-Tea-Not is just a prototype for now and not yet available for purchase, though Twinings says it may roll it it out properly in the future. Sadly, I can see it selling really well.
