With HTC’s ‘For U’ launch event set for next Thursday, it’s a wonder that we haven’t seen too many ridiculous rumours about the company’s plans, even if the invitations only went out just ahead of Christmas.

With the happy season well and truly over, vague reports have emerged claiming that HTC will launch three new handsets next week, current codenamed the Ocean Master (great name), Ocean Smart and Ocean Note.

According to tipster @OnLeaks, who cites an unverified source, the Ocean Note will arrive as the HTC U Ultra, and will feature a hefty 6-inch display and NO HEADPHONE JACK. Deep breaths.

Taiwanese site ePrice adds that the handset’s USB Type-C port will instead be used for audio -- ideal for consumers who hate listening to music as their phone charges The U Ultra is also expected to feature a revamped version of HTC’s Sense Touch UI.

The Ocean Master and Ocean Smart are likely to fall under the HTC U brand too. We imagine one will be normal-sized and the other will be ‘cheap’. [Twitter, ePrice]
