Yet another tech company is jacking up its prices because of Brexit: fancypants connected speaker company Sonos.
The Guardian reports that prices will go up by a quarter in some cases, with Sonos Connect rising from £279 to £349 and the Connect Amp rising from £399 to £499. Other products including the popular Play range will see price rises of around 15%. However, these increases don't kick in until the 23rd of February, so if you had your eye on a Sonos, grab it now.
The price rises are due to the plummeting value of the Pound as a result of our brilliant decision to leave the European Union, with Sonos being one of several tech companies to pass the shortfall on to consumers. As Sonos told the Graun, "Over recent months, there has been a significant change on the US dollar to GBP exchange rate. As a result, our existing pricing has become unsustainable and, like many other companies, we have to increase prices for all products priced in GBP."
Ugh. Thanks Obama. [The Guardian]
