Phone network Three has launched its new rewards app, designed to give customers freebies along the lines of O2's Priority and similar schemes (Orange Wednesdays RIP).
If you're wondering why it's called Wuntu, wait for the little bit of branding genius here - *drumroll* - Wuntu Three! Geddit?
The app officially launched today, free on Android and iOS, and launch offers include a free romantic film, several competitions including Amazon gift cards and a LastMinute trip to New York, and money off various services (50% off Deezer, 20% off Chocolicious and £20 off Deliveroo, for instance). Three says it has lots of partnerships lined up already.
Using the Tinder mechanic of swiping right on things you like, Wuntu offers seven rewards a week with a new batch appearing every Thursday. Over time, the app aims to learn the kinds of things you like and offer new suggestions.
The brilliantly alliterative Danny Dixon, Director of Digital Offers & Rewards at Three explains:
“Over time, Wuntu will become innovative and intuitive, ultimately making the customer feel like a king. While at first the rewards it offers will be more generic, over time the mixture of offers, rewards and content will become increasingly catered to the users’ interests, the more they use it. It’s completely free to download for all Three customers, making it a real no-brainer for users to begin benefitting from immediately.”
Reward categories will apparently include more alliteration: Travel, Taste, Entertainment and Technology.
You do have to be a Three customer to use Wuntu, but PAYG, contract and mobile broadband folks are all welcome. If you, too, would like to "feel like a king" (although the 2-star app store ratings would suggest otherwise), you can download it now from iTunes or Google Play.
