Arnold Schwarzenegger Is The Hero We All Need Right Now

By Gizmodo UK on at

On Thursday 23rd March, Arnold Schwarzenegger—ex-Governor of California, legendary muscle-bound hunk and twin of Danny DeVito—posted a sweet video on Facebook of the Special Olympics athletes in Austria.

"These guys inspire me!" he posted.

Sadly, because the internet is full of awful people who like to piss on everyone else's bonfire, some idiot responded, saying a bunch of unpleasant things about the athletes in question.

But Schwarzenegger—who recently called out Trump on Twitter and turned down a $40,000 (£32,000) fee for doing a commencement speech at Houston University—was ready with a comeback:

As stupid and evil as this comment is, I’m not going to delete it or ban you (yet) because it’s a teachable moment.

You have two possible paths ahead. Right now, I guarantee you that these athletes have more courage, compassion, brains, skill – actually more of every positive human quality than you. So take their path – you could learn from them, and try to challenge yourself, to give back, to add something from the world.

Or you can stay on your path, and keep being a sad, pitiful, jealous internet troll who adds nothing to the world but mocks anyone who does out of small-minded jealousy.

I know what you really want is attention, so let me be clear: if you choose to keep going this way, no one will ever remember you.

Schwarzenegger for President 2020. Or, you know, any time soon.
