A new map by dataviz whiz Anna Powell-Smith shows, for the first time, house prices in England and Wales by the square metre.
It uses new government data on floor areas, cross-referenced with house sale information. The map is colour-coded, and as you'd expect, gets pretty damn red around the London area. So red it's actually purple in places, with some areas costing over twenty grand per m/sq.
Whether you're deciding where to buy or just trying to depress yourself, it's fascinating – we now know far too much about all the places we can never afford to live. On the bright side, there's a very affordable couple of metres in Grimsby.
