You have to hand it to the North Koreans. They know how to pull off a finale. In a video performance posted to YouTube by state media, you can watch the rousing concert that capped off celebrations in the isolated country last weekend. And one song ended with a not-so-subtle warning to the US.
Did you catch that footage on the huge video screens behind the orchestra? Yes, that’s a computer generated animation of nuclear weapons hitting what appear to be San Francisco. Not very chill, to say the least.
In other news, the Trump administration lied about sending an armada to the region, which is a bit like trying to rob a bank with a banana in your pocket. The Trump regime had a major credibility problem on the world stage, and now everyone in the region is laughing at Trump’s imaginary fleet.
“If you are going to threaten the North Koreans, you better make sure your threat is credible,” Joel Wit, a co-founder of the 38 North website run out of Johns Hopkins University told The Guardian today. “If you threaten them and your threat is not credible, it’s only going to undermine whatever your policy toward them is.”
Basically the only thing saving us from nuclear holocaust at this point is the idiocy of every major world leader involved in beating the drums of war right now.
