Remember how great 2012's Dredd was, and how everyone's been campaigning for more after it made basically no money at the box office? After what seems like an eternity of waiting, 2000AD just announced that Judge Dredd will be getting a TV series.
It's called Judge Dredd: Mega City One, and it's being made by IM Global in conjunction with 2000AD's parent company Rebellion. Here's a poster courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:
We don't know who's going to be in it (is it wishful thinking to hope Karl Urban will be back?), but behind the scenes will be IM Global Television president Mark Stern (who developed Battlestar Galactica, Helix, and Defiance), IM Global Television CEO Stuart Ford, and Rebellion owners Jason and Chris Kingsley. Those last three also served as executive producers on Dredd.
I have to say, this has been a long time coming and when that press release landed in my inbox I had to remind myself that it's May 10th, not April 1st. Here's hoping that they do a good job. The world needs more Dredd, even if he is a violent fascist.
