TfL has just ruled that Uber can no longer operate in London, stating that the company "is not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator licence." That's obviously grave news for Uber, but rival company Lyft may reap the benefits. Or, they would if they actually operated in the UK. Lyft is currently only available in the US.
It's not stopping people trying their luck on Google, though. In the last 30 minutes, searches on Google for 'Lyft UK' have skyrocketed as people hurriedly grab for another taxi service that they can summon with their smartphones.
There is no indication that Lyft is planning to launch in the UK - though given today’s decision, we would speculate that executives will no doubt be reviewing their plans.
