Aldi's already announced a few weird things in the run up to Christmas, including a wine advent calendar and a giant roast dinner sausage roll. The latest announcement are mince pies filled with gin, because Christmas is only tolerable with copious amounts of booze involved.
Aldi is set to launch the Specially Selected Sloe Gin Mince Tarts next month, designed to be a "very sophisticated alternative to the traditional mince pie". They're basically the same as regular mince pies, but with gin added to the mincemeat recipe to give them a boozy twist. They'll also come topped with flaked almonds.
Presumably Aldi will be selling some tonic-flavoured ice cream or custard to accompany the new mince pies, because otherwise what's the point?
The new mince pies will go on sale on 14th November, but it's not clear how much they'll cost. It's Aldi, though, so it can't be that much. [Metro]
