Lenovo's Star Wars AR Headset is Available to Pre-Order in the UAE

One of the biggest surprise reveals of IFA 2017 (for me at least) was Lenovo's Star Wars-themes AR headset, which lets you fight a real life lightsbaer battle against Kylo Ren. It took some getting used to, but for the most part I found it to be an enjoyable experience. Well now that headset is available to pre-order... In the United Arab Emirates.

Yes, yes, being available in the UAE isn't the same as being available here, but if pre-orders have opened in one country they should be hitting the rest of the Star Wars-loving world fairly soon.

The headset is 1,199 AED, which is around £247. In the box is the headset itself, various power cables, the Lightsaber prop, and an extra tracking beacon. You will need a smartphone running Android or iOS to actually use the thing, because this is to Hololens what the Gear VR is to Oculus Rift.

Aside from fighting Kylo Ren, the headset will also introduce the Jedi Archivist who will instruct users on the mysterious ways of the force. In other words he'll teach you how to play the game.

The pre-order site also reveals some of the other games included in the headset, including Dejarik holochess (which should have been a given from the get go), strategic combat games where you lead rebel armies against the Empire, and a lightsaber battle with Kylo's personal hero Darth Vader.

Sadly you can't order it yet, since you lot live in the UK and don't have an Emirates ID or passport. But the headset is due for release there in mid-November, and it would be foolish for Disney and Lenovo to not release it elsewhere at around the same time. So get saving, you don't have that long to wait. [TechRadar]
