Move Over BB-8, Robotic Stormtroopers are on the Way

By Tom Pritchard on at

Sphero's robotic droids are a great present for any Star Wars fan, but there's a new contender in town. UBTech's app-controlled First Order Stormtrooper.

If you ever wanted your own personal stormtrooper, now's your chance. This thing comes with an AR mode that offer first and third person play, voice commands, facial recognition (with space for three different faces and their variations) for customised interactions, and sentry patrolling.

UBTech is quick to point out that the robot does not connect to the internet, and only operates within a closed network. It also promises that the whole platform is encrypted to a minimum 128 bit standard, with no data or personal information being saved by the robot of the app. The app itself will be available on both Android and iOS

The First Order Stormtrooper Robot will cost £299.95, and will be available to purchase directly from UBTech and Amazon. A set release date hasn't been announced at the time of writing, but UBTech has promised that it will be available in time for Christmas.
