Rejoice Rick & Morty Fans, McDonalds US is Bringing Back Szechuan Sauce for One Day

By Tom Pritchard on at

Ever since Rick & Morty's third season hit the internet on 1st April, fans have gone nuts for the Szechuan McNugget dipping sauce - the one thing that supposedly drives Rick in his adventures across the multiverse. Well he doesn't have to go very far, bcause McDonalds is bringing the sauce back. But only for one day, and so far only in the US.

Select stores will be stocking the sauce on October 7th, which is being done to mark the launch of the new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders. There will also be 1,000 limited edition posters for the various dipping sauces McDonalds has available.

McDonalds said:

"Szechuan Sauce fans are typically incredibly motivated, born winners that combine a sweet disposition with a slow burning heat. When these people set goals (or make outright demands), they tend to achieve them."

This isn't the first time McDonalds has revived the sauce before, famously sending out a giant bottle of the sauce to three Rick & Morty fans and series co-creator Justin Roiland.

While there's no word on the sauce being made available in the UK, this revival seems to be the result of fan demand - and a 40,000 signature petition. There's no reason why Rick & Morty fans couldn't kick up a fuss here, and see what McDonalds does. Just keep it civil. Anyone who sends a death threat doesn't deserve any McNuggets.

If you are in the States, or fancy a quick trip, you can find the nearest participating McDonalds over on the official site. The fast food giant is also showing off all 10 dipping sauce posters that'll be available. [McDonalds via Metro]
