Just like how Facebook wants to be in charge of pretty much every online service and Amazon wants to be the only place you need to shop online, Deliveroo really wants to be the only place you ever go to to get yourself food. So it'a hardly a surprise that it's launched a new lunchtime service to deliver meal deals and save you a trip to Tesco Express.
The new £6 Lunchbox service will be available in East London, delivering to The City and Canary Wharf. It'll be available from noon until 3pm, with food from Motu, Yoobi Sushi, Franca Manca, BabaBoom and Mother Clucker. It seems as though you don't get a whole lot of choice in terms of the food on offer, but the menus will be changing every Monday to keep things interesting.
The food itself will be prepared by Deliveroo's 'Editions' kitchens, which is a fancy word for kitchens that only prepare food for Deliveroo - rather than a traditional restaurant dining room.
The service is live now if you're in the right area, though there are apparently plans to expand this particular service in the future - starting with the rest of London in the new year. It also probably won't be long before competitors, like UberEats, launch something similar. [Engadget]
