Amazon's latest product in its Echo lineup will be coming to the UK on 24th January. The Echo Spot is a smaller device offering the same Alexa-driven technology and will retail at £120.
With a screen and front-facing camera, it packs in the functionality of a bigger Echo but in a smaller, more eye-catching design. The rounded shape of the Spot looks more like a travel alarm clock than a digital assistant - and that's what Amazon seems to be marketing this thing as. In fact, when our American colleagues reviewed it before Christmas, that's the conclusion they came to, too.
Of course, apart from having superior alarm clock capabilities and a funky circular screen that can be turned into a clock, the Echo Spot has a lot more functionality too. Just like any Echo, it can go in any room and be used to play music, make calls, check the news and weather, read recipes — or whatever else people use these things for.
With built-in 2W speakers, the Echo Spot is not the best tool for blaring your music through - but built-in Bluetooth and a 3.5mm jack allows it to connect with other speakers in your home for better sound quality.
The Echo Spot is available for pre-order now on Amazon UK, priced at £119.99. Customers can buy a two-pack for £199.99, saving £40. The Echo Spot will ship next Wednesday, 24th January.
