Pub chain Wetherspoons threw the dinner plans of a large sector of society into CRISIS last night, as it pulled three types of steak from its menu nationwide.
The pub is blaming a non-specific supply issue for the meat restriction, saying: "We have had a supply issue with our pubs. Currently rump steak, sirloin steak and gammon steak are not available, but we hope to resolve this soon."
Supplier Russell Hume has been equally vague as to the reason 900 pubs can't currently meet the steak needs of its customers, simply saying it was a "precautionary" measure involving the "mislabelling" of some products, and stressing that it has no reason to believe any of the meat currently festering in the bowels of recent diners is unsafe or horse in any way.
To add insult to injury, chicken is being used as a substitute on the mixed grill today. [Wales Online
