Earlier this week Greggs announced that it would be accepting Valentine's Day bookings at five locations, for couples who want to spend the evening together eating pasties and doughnuts. Now Wetherspoons has announced it's doing something similar, charging couples £20 for a romantic meal.
The special Valentine's menu includes two mains, two desserts, and two drinks for that price, with the option to pay an extra £5 to upgrade to a bottle of prosecco. The choice of mains includes steak, pork ribs, a mixed grill, BBQ chicken, or a vegetable lasagna. Desserts include a cookie dough sandwich or chocolate fudge cake, both of which come with ice cream.
So it sounds like pretty standard Wetherspoons food.
Considering Valentine's Day is bound to be quite busy for restaurants up and down the country, Wetherspoons might not be a bad idea if you or your partner decide to go out at the last minute. They're literally everywhere, and while some of the franchise's restaurants may opt out of the deal there should still be plenty of spaces on the night.
Or if you'd rather not head out on Valentine's Day itself, you can always opt for the cheap steak the night before. You should maybe double check with your partner before you opt for either choice, though, just in case they have an issue with being taken to Wetherspoons for a romantic night out. [Metro]
