HTC has just announced that the standalone Vive Focus headset will be available outside China later this year, hitting the UK and other countries around the world.
What's more, the developer's kit is being made available today so there should be plenty of content available to enjoy when the headset is made available to the public. Kits are only available for registered developers, though, so you can't buy one as a regular VR-lover pretending to be a dev.
HTC didn't mention anything about pricing, or a more specific release window, telling me that this information won't be announced until later this year. It's been available in China for sometime with a ¥3,999 (£449) price tag, but considering the stand-alone Oculus Go costs $199, not trying to competitively price the Vive Focus would probably be a big mistake.
I got to try the headset for myself at Mobile World Congress at the end of last month, and I liked it. Make sure you head back to my hands-on piece to see all my thoughts in greater detail.
