Have you ever been surfing your Instagram feed and come across something so amazing or stylish that you wish you could buy it there and there, without having to deal with the hassle of tapping a few buttons and looking for it online. I can't say that I have, but Instagram has your back with the UK launch of Shopping.
Shopping is quite literally what I just talked about. It lets companies tag products in their organic Instagram posts, meaning you can tap your screen and be whisked away to the official website without having to use something so basic as a search engine and your brain.
Instagram will also, presumably, earn a small slice of cash for redirecting you in the first place, which means you'll be indirectly supporting your favourite (?) social network by doing some shopping. Instagram has confirmed that it does not take a slice of the sale, and that Instagram is making Shopping available to business completely free. Apparently it's invested in this feature out of the goodness of its own heart, not for financial reasons. Which is nice of them I suppose.
Instagram is making Shopping tools available to business today, but it did give special trial access to M&S, Heidi Klein, and mahabis so you should expect to see Shopping posts appear right away. Because why wouldn't you want your feed to fill up with adverts that are technically not adverts, but still totally are.
You can read more on the Instagram Business blog, but judging from the press materials that information is designed for businesses who want to set up Instagram Shopping for themselves - not ordinary plebs like us.
