Buying coffee from a chain isn't the cheapest thing in the world, but it is pretty convenient seeing as how they're basically everywhere. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to grab a discount, and if you work in the emergency services you're going to be able to get 10% off your future Starbucks purchases.
This new discount comes courtesy of a partnership with the Blue Light Card and Defence Discount Service, meaning anyone who has a Blue Light Card and Defence Privilege Card (£5 for five years) can take advantage of the discount. That membership is open to NHS workers, emergency service personnel, plus current and former members of the armed forces.
Robert Lynch, vice president of operations at Starbucks Europe, said:
"We’ve always championed those who have done brilliant jobs in the community, so it’s time to thank our everyday heroes who are devoted to helping our communities by partnering with Blue Light Card and the Defence Discount Service."
10 per cent isn't a huge amount of money, but considering those careers aren't exactly known for being well paid it's definitely better than nothing at all.
Tom Dalby, managing director of Blue Light Card and head of Defence Discount Service said:
"We are proud to welcome Starbucks to Blue Light Card and Defence Discount Service. ‘It is great to see Starbucks recognising the hard work that the UK’s emergency services, NHS and armed forces do within our communities and it is their way of saying thank you. ‘Our members love saving on the high street, and all the coffee fans will be very pleased to hear that Starbucks is involved."
