Rumours never stop. Once a phone is released the rumours simply switch over to the next exciting model and attempt to spill all its secrets before the official announcement. With news that Samsung will be releasing a foldable phone later this year, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive to try and figure out exactly what this device has to offer. The latest one involves three different OLED display panels.
According to Korean news site The Bell, Samsung has developed a prototype model with three 3.5-inch OLED panels. Two of those combine to create a single 7-inch display when unfolded, with the third sitting on the outside letting you see what's going on without having to open up your phone all the time.
Despite the fact that this phone has been rumoured for years, and even supposedly made a secret appearance at CES in January, we don't know a great deal about it. Rumours have suggested that Samsung is working on two models, one capable of folding in and the other capable of folding out. It's also been confirmed that the device won't be the Galaxy S10, whose design is already locked down.
Supposedly development on the foldable phone is far enough along that Samsung can secretly bring prototypes to big shows like CES, but nobody's actually managed to see the fabled device for themselves. Nobody who's willing to talk about it anyway. Expect the amount of speculation to increase over the coming months, especially as we get closer to the end of the year. Until then all we can do is dream about this miraculous folding phone that Samsung apparently thinks will be a gamechanger. [The Bell via Ubergizmo]
