In a rumoured, decidedly un-Apple move, it looks like the Big A could be about to let third-party developers design faces for the Apple Watch.
Since the device first launched back in 2015, watchOS has never supported third-party watch faces. To this point, if scuffed up your screen and wanted a new face for your smartwatch, official Apple options were the only game in town.
The eagle-eyed 9to5Mac has spotted an interesting reference in the new watchOS 4.3.1 beta which suggests this could soon change, though. Said reference relates to a "3rd party face config bundle", which certainly sounds like Apple is going to allow third-parties to design faces for its swanky wearable.
Apple has yet to respond to the rumours, but there's a good chance we may get confirmation on these third-party faces at the WWDC developers conference this June.
