Fun fact: the first video game console I ever owned was the Mega Drive – cheers for the best birthday gift ever, Grandad. With this quick anecdote out of the way, please indulge my inner eight-year-old losing his shit over the fact Sega is re-releasing the classic system in mini form.
The House of Sonic recently announced the Mega Drive Mini – or Genesis Mini, if you reside in the States. Taking inspiration from Nintendo's NES and SNES Minis, Sega is obviously looking to capitalise on modern gamers' appetite for retro nostalgia.

Sadly, the Mega Drive Mini only has a confirmed Japanese release date at time of writing, but I'd be shocked if the wee machine doesn't make it to the West.
Presumably, Sega will include a bunch of pre-installed games with the squeezed down console. If said software doesn't include Streets of Rage and Golden Axe, this Scotsman is going to be extremely grouchy.
